Super fashionable shoes so cheap- you will faint.

I've been looking for a few pairs of cute platforms (hopefully under $100) that wouldn't break my bank account. I am a complete SUCKER for high heeled shoes. Really, really, high heeled shoes, the type you almost break your neck in. oh. my. word. did I ever find some! I found these incredible sites that list crazy cute shoes for cheap! cheap, cheap.

Check it out:

Were you aware of such amazing sites?!?
I'm definitely starting a "birthday outfit fund" and one of these pairs will be part of it. ;).

Monday Make-up Tips

Photobucket

Today's makeup tip is about choosing the right shade of blush.
Picking the right blush tone is tricky since you normally can't tell the true color by the package or the online photo. I typically go for the rosier tones. If you have dark olive skin, you would probably be safe with a blush that has an orangey tint. Since my skin-tone is so drastically pale, I tend to choose shimmery, light shades that leave a nice punch without looking completely unnatural. Here are a couple of awesome options:

This is a creamy blush stick that is super easy to blend and mix with your other makeup products. Because it is a cream blush, it's very easy to monitor how much makeup you apply and very simple to remove excess blush. Nude and Cheeky look like incredibly chic, safe colors to me. These run about $7.00 from mark.

Also, the blush mosaic palettes. These typically are more shimmery- and are usually used by a younger age group - teens through late twenties. That doesn't mean that you are confined to that age group-they just appeal more to them. Since these palettes are sheer, it's almost impossible to mess up your makeup. These are perfect for starting a young girl in makeup because they give her the chance to experiment, without making her look like a make-up newbie. These run about $7.00 from mark.

This blush is again, one of the simplest, easiest blushes to use. This one is incredibly special because it does all the blending for you! This cheek-tone conforms to your skin-tone to create the perfect shade of blush for you! How amazing, right?! Simple apply the makeup like regular cream blush and it will appear like your normal shade. Fabulous . Saves time and effort!
Runs about $6.50 from mark. and is now offered with a free makeup bag.

Hope this post was helpful!!

I love this man.

This guy is so much more than a boyfriend.
When I'm unhappy- he cheers me up.
He makes me laugh constantly- even when I'm not in a laughing mood.
He also gives me the optimistic viewpoint that I'm looking for!
He is never surprised by the stresses of life ( a method I might try sometime..)
He simply relies on God and doesn't waste time with stressing, a quality I'm extremely envious of.
He is super smart. He is fantastic at what he does and he's very motivated.
He's sensitive- he can tell when I'm not one hundred percent happy.
He is a leader, an encourager, a believer, a sweetheart, and so much more.
There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe Bart's personality. I'm so thankful for him! After 1 year and almost 6 months together- I couldn't be more blessed.

I love you B!

New Design!

After a couple of hours of cutting & pasting, I finally have my new blog design =).

Friday Favorites

The list for this week is somewhat short, mainly because I jabbered about some of my favorite things on Wednesday (oops). But here are a couple . . .

I recently purchased the top blouse in chocolate and the lower blouse in black for winter. My winter wardrobe was looking a little bit skimpy - what better way to fix that than Victoria's Secret two tops for $25.00?

This week I treated myself to some brie cheese. Brie is my favorite and tastes fabulous on toast or just crackers. I've been making brie and turkey melts all week. yum.

My final copy of Instyle came in the mail this week , and I couldn't have been happier to have seen Rachel Mcadams on the cover. This lady is my favorite. I loved her in the Notebook, Time Traveler's Wife, and so many more. She is so talented and just naturally gorgeous.

Last, don't these turtles look delightful? Oh I could just eat a bag full of these delicious little creatures.

Happy Friday

These fonts will change your life.

I've been using these amazing fonts from this sweet couple. Kevin and Amanda have a precious blog, and Amanda provides the blog world with crazily cute fonts and scrapbook fonts. I absolutely love Fonts for Peas. People probably think I'm a lunatic for becoming so excited about fonts, but hey, it's what you love writing, what better way to personalize that writing than with some adorable, girly fonts. They will grab any woman's attention. Anytime my friends see the fonts they exclaim about how cute they are! Simply download them to your computer and install into your font library. I own a Mac and the fonts showed up instantly on my pages program. Definitely check these fonts out- they will add a little spice and character to your next letter to your girlfriend, hubby or long lost bff.

=) Happy Writing.

Cake, please.

I started a cake decorating class tonight and so far I'm loving it.
Of course, I haven't exactly decorated a cake yet, but I'm mentally preparing for it. ;).
I was wondering about the web when I came across some of the cakes from Ace of Cakes. I have seen this show a couple of times and my, is it amazing. These cakes totally blow my mind. In no way, will I ever be able to make a cake to even mimic these, but a girl can dream.

I think the tea-pot cake is simply darling! How appropriate for a little princess' tea party.

What I would really love to make is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting covered in aqua polka dots. Festive! Maybe I'll shoot for a thanksgiving one with Orange and Yellow dots =). Or maybe I'll just have just a hard time with the dots that I won't do them at all. Confidence is key ( at least I keep assuring myself of that).

Sweet Thanksgiving crafts.

I was browsing the web and found these adorable Thanksgiving crafts.
Don't they make you want to rejoin art class?

Looks easy yet incredibly thoughtful!

This little thumbprint turkey is as sweet as he could be!

I'm so inspired to buy some gold and brown paint and make my own little decorative turkey cards . =)

Happy Thursday

What I'm loving..

Well, first off I'm really loving that I discovered how to change the font on my blog posts! I cannot believe that there was a little compose tab hiding on the screen that I just discovered!

I'm really loving these pictures that my sister had done.

Isn't this the sweetest picture ever? I think it's insanely adorable =).

Don't these pictures just make your heart melt? The lady who took these is extremely talented and uses her fine talent to glorify the Lord! What could be better?
If you are interested in more gorgeous photographs from her, check out her blog. It will amaze you!

I'm love, love, loving my new black scarf that I snatched from Cato's!
It was $6.00.
I could NOT be prouder.

Surprisingly,

I'm actually loving my short nails. Yes, I can hardly believe it either. I've always had long nails and hestitated cutting them for anything. ( Not gross long, or nasty, just pretty, long nails). But since I put those horrid acrylic tips on them; they are destroyed =(. I'm in the process of growing them out again, but hey, I'm enjoying the benefits of short nails. Like: texting and typing faster than ever because I don't have to worry about hitting the wrong key, Putting my contacts in in about .32 of a second because i don't have to worry about poking my eye (which I still do very often, I'm kind of a klutz). Anyways, my nails look something like this as of right now:

Not so bad, huh? Well, I'm coping ;).

The thing I'm loving most today is that God is constantly giving me (and you) a fresh change. Wouldn't it be so terribly boring if he always blessed us in the same exact ways? I'm thankful for variety and surprise, even if it isn't always the most fun to deal with.

Last note: check out Who Moved My Cheese if you haven't already. It's a tiny book about dealing with change in a positive way. It will effect how you look at change . I promise.
Try it out.

You have to read this. . .

This book will change your relationships. I read it a few months ago and couldn't even wait until I was finished to begin sharing it with others. Whether you are a man or a woman, it will open your eyes to really what your significant other is going through. I decided to make it a point to read it again every year. The truths in this book never get old, and no matter what your personality, the statements are all true! You will be shocked, encouraged and terrified when you discover the content of this book.
Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

I've also read The Love Dare and am currently working my way through Crazy Love.
wow. This book is incredible! As I'm reading it I keep discovering things that I've never even thought about-- things that are entirely true! Trust me- reading any of these three books will help you tremendously in your walk with God, and encourage you to jump back into the Bible or into ministry.
God works in mysterious ways!!

Hills like White Elephants

If you haven't yet been confused today, or let your mind wonder . . .

here you are:

The hills across the valley of the Ebro were long and white. On this side there was no shade and no trees and the station was between two lines of rails in the sun. Close against the side of the station there was the warm shadow of the building and a curtain, made of strings of bamboo beads, hung across the open door into the bar, to keep out flies. The American and the girl with him sat at a table in the shade, outside the building. It was very hot and the express from Barcelona would come in forty minutes. It stopped at this junction for two minutes and went to Madrid.

‘What should we drink?’ the girl asked. She had taken off her hat and put it on the table.

‘It’s pretty hot,’ the man said.

‘Let’s drink beer.’

‘Dos cervezas,’ the man said into the curtain.

‘Big ones?’ a woman asked from the doorway.

‘Yes. Two big ones.’

The woman brought two glasses of beer and two felt pads. She put the felt pads and the beer glass on the table and looked at the man and the girl. The girl was looking off at the line of hills. They were white in the sun and the country was brown and dry.

‘They look like white elephants,’ she said.

‘I’ve never seen one,’ the man drank his beer.

‘No, you wouldn’t have.’

‘I might have,’ the man said. ‘Just because you say I wouldn’t have doesn’t prove anything.’

The girl looked at the bead curtain. ‘They’ve painted something on it,’ she said. ‘What does it say?’

‘Anis del Toro. It’s a drink.’

‘Could we try it?’

The man called ‘Listen’ through the curtain. The woman came out from the bar.

‘Four reales.’ ‘We want two Anis del Toro.’

‘With water?’

‘Do you want it with water?’

‘I don’t know,’ the girl said. ‘Is it good with water?’

‘It’s all right.’

‘You want them with water?’ asked the woman.

‘Yes, with water.’

‘It tastes like liquorice,’ the girl said and put the glass down.

‘That’s the way with everything.’

‘Yes,’ said the girl. ‘Everything tastes of liquorice. Especially all the things you’ve waited so long for, like absinthe.’

‘Oh, cut it out.’

‘You started it,’ the girl said. ‘I was being amused. I was having a fine time.’

‘Well, let’s try and have a fine time.’

‘All right. I was trying. I said the mountains looked like white elephants. Wasn’t that bright?’

‘That was bright.’

‘I wanted to try this new drink. That’s all we do, isn’t it – look at things and try new drinks?’

‘I guess so.’

The girl looked across at the hills.

‘They’re lovely hills,’ she said. ‘They don’t really look like white elephants. I just meant the colouring of their skin through the trees.’

‘Should we have another drink?’

‘All right.’

The warm wind blew the bead curtain against the table.

‘The beer’s nice and cool,’ the man said.

‘It’s lovely,’ the girl said.

‘It’s really an awfully simple operation, Jig,’ the man said. ‘It’s not really an operation at all.’

The girl looked at the ground the table legs rested on.

‘I know you wouldn’t mind it, Jig. It’s really not anything. It’s just to let the air in.’

The girl did not say anything.

‘I’ll go with you and I’ll stay with you all the time. They just let the air in and then it’s all perfectly natural.’

‘Then what will we do afterwards?’

‘We’ll be fine afterwards. Just like we were before.’

‘What makes you think so?’

‘That’s the only thing that bothers us. It’s the only thing that’s made us unhappy.’

The girl looked at the bead curtain, put her hand out and took hold of two of the strings of beads.

‘And you think then we’ll be all right and be happy.’

‘I know we will. Yon don’t have to be afraid. I’ve known lots of people that have done it.’

‘So have I,’ said the girl. ‘And afterwards they were all so happy.’

‘Well,’ the man said, ‘if you don’t want to you don’t have to. I wouldn’t have you do it if you didn’t want to. But I know it’s perfectly simple.’

‘And you really want to?’

‘I think it’s the best thing to do. But I don’t want you to do it if you don’t really want to.’

‘And if I do it you’ll be happy and things will be like they were and you’ll love me?’

‘I love you now. You know I love you.’

‘I know. But if I do it, then it will be nice again if I say things are like white elephants, and you’ll like it?’

‘I’ll love it. I love it now but I just can’t think about it. You know how I get when I worry.’

‘If I do it you won’t ever worry?’

‘I won’t worry about that because it’s perfectly simple.’

‘Then I’ll do it. Because I don’t care about me.’

‘What do you mean?’

‘I don’t care about me.’

‘Well, I care about you.’

‘Oh, yes. But I don’t care about me. And I’ll do it and then everything will be fine.’

‘I don’t want you to do it if you feel that way.’

The girl stood up and walked to the end of the station. Across, on the other side, were fields of grain and trees along the banks of the Ebro. Far away, beyond the river, were mountains. The shadow of a cloud moved across the field of grain and she saw the river through the trees.

‘And we could have all this,’ she said. ‘And we could have everything and every day we make it more impossible.’

‘What did you say?’

‘I said we could have everything.’

‘We can have everything.’

‘No, we can’t.’

‘We can have the whole world.’

‘No, we can’t.’

‘We can go everywhere.’

‘No, we can’t. It isn’t ours any more.’

‘It’s ours.’

‘No, it isn’t. And once they take it away, you never get it back.’

‘But they haven’t taken it away.’

‘We’ll wait and see.’

‘Come on back in the shade,’ he said. ‘You mustn’t feel that way.’

‘I don’t feel any way,’ the girl said. ‘I just know things.’

‘I don’t want you to do anything that you don’t want to do -’

‘Nor that isn’t good for me,’ she said. ‘I know. Could we have another beer?’

‘All right. But you’ve got to realize – ‘

‘I realize,’ the girl said. ‘Can’t we maybe stop talking?’

They sat down at the table and the girl looked across at the hills on the dry side of the valley and the man looked at her and at the table.

‘You’ve got to realize,’ he said, ‘ that I don’t want you to do it if you don’t want to. I’m perfectly willing to go through with it if it means anything to you.’

‘Doesn’t it mean anything to you? We could get along.’

‘Of course it does. But I don’t want anybody but you. I don’t want anyone else. And I know it’s perfectly simple.’

‘Yes, you know it’s perfectly simple.’

‘It’s all right for you to say that, but I do know it.’

‘Would you do something for me now?’

‘I’d do anything for you.’

‘Would you please please please please please please please stop talking?’

He did not say anything but looked at the bags against the wall of the station. There were labels on them from all the hotels where they had spent nights.

‘But I don’t want you to,’ he said, ‘I don’t care anything about it.’

‘I’ll scream,’ the girl siad.

The woman came out through the curtains with two glasses of beer and put them down on the damp felt pads. ‘The train comes in five minutes,’ she said.

‘What did she say?’ asked the girl.

‘That the train is coming in five minutes.’

The girl smiled brightly at the woman, to thank her.

‘I’d better take the bags over to the other side of the station,’ the man said. She smiled at him.

‘All right. Then come back and we’ll finish the beer.’

He picked up the two heavy bags and carried them around the station to the other tracks. He looked up the tracks but could not see the train. Coming back, he walked through the bar-room, where people waiting for the train were drinking. He drank an Anis at the bar and looked at the people. They were all waiting reasonably for the train. He went out through the bead curtain. She was sitting at the table and smiled at him.

‘Do you feel better?’ he asked.

‘I feel fine,’ she said. ‘There’s nothing wrong with me. I feel fine.’

Confused yet??

For Makeup Tip Mondays!

Yummy Candles!

Okay, so I'll admit it. I've become sort of obsessed with candles. I burn them constantly! If I'm feeling grouchy or have a headache; I light a candle instantly. So, naturally I've been checking out all the fabulous Autumn scents. Yum. I have found a handful of of super amazing smelling ones, too. Surprisingly enough, right now I've found Mainstays candles to be the best for the money!
I bought one Warm Apple Cider candle and I absolutely love burning it. Only $1.00.
To me, that's totally worth the money- plus it's scent it a lot stronger than even some of my WoodWick and BathandBody candles!
Buy one today- you won't be disappointed =).

This is one candle that I've been dying to try but haven't yet had the chance. I love the smell of Febreeze and I think I would really enjoy a Febreeze candle as well. I'll have to try it sometime soon. . =)

Happy Monday

Friday Favorites!

hmmmm . . . . . lots to share this week!

My favorite body wash right now - A touch of happiness.
Let me tell you, this stuff smells wonderful! I tried it from a free sample and rushed to the store to get a full bottle. It smells orangey and delish! It also leaves skin feeling moisturized and refreshed. ahh.

My favorite tea right now- Twinnings Tea in English Breakfast.
I'm oddly into simple teas. This black tea is full of flavor, but by no means overpowering. It's perfect to sip alone or drink with a sandwich of some sort..

My favorite treat from Chick-fil-a right now.

oh. my. word. I am addicted to these things! I was a little cautious about trying one at first, I mean I'm not that crazy about peppermint.. but I was happily surprised. They are amazing!

My absolute favorite item(s) in my closet right now:

I have found the perfect pair of jeans. Really! These jeans are by Lauren Conrad and can be found at Kohls. When I first heard that Lauren Conrad would be designing clothes I was ecstatic- I mean probably because I was totally obsessed with her on The Hills, but that's beside the point. I figured that I probably wouldn't be able to afford the clothes anyway ! So, you can imagine that I had a little dance party right there in Kohls when I discovered her nicely priced jeans for sale! When I tried them on they fit perfectly. I mean really, this must be my fate or something because I've never been so in love with a pair of jeans. Anyways I ended up buying 2 pair, one pair of skinny jeans (similar to the photo posted) and one pair of regular fitted boot-cuts. I was also thrilled at the fact that the boot-cuts were a size -brace yourself- TWO!
I think Lauren just likes to flatter me. Anyway, so now you know about my infatuation with Lauren Conrad's clothing line.

Last, I guess this is not really a "favorite", but it's consumed my week so I think it deserves to make it on here.

Redbox! Yes, I am in love with redbox. This week I've been especially obsessed because a) I've had a terrible, monstrous cold, and b) Redbox now has Season 1 of Glee! So I guess you can figure out what I've been doing all week (besides honking my nose).

Have a delightful weekend!!!

Bedtime Bliss.

Remember your favorite bedtime stories?

One book in particular comes to my mind . . .

Wasn't this a fantastic bed-time read?!
Someday when I have kids I plan to read lots and lots of stories to them. I think that special bonding time is so important! Since I've outgrown the bed-time stories, I have tried bed-time music. Sometimes when I can't sleep or my mind just won't stop "chattering" , I'll turn on some Jack Johnson softly and it puts me right to sleep. Something about his mellow voice and mainly acoustic melodies just send me drifting.

The other night I just wasn't sleepy, so I asked my boyfriend to tell me a bedtime story (over the phone, of course). He started the tale and soon enough I was more awake than when he'd begun- I was laughing uncontrollably. So maybe stories about dragons and pretty fairies aren't his thing, but he's good for comic relief ;).

Most families have bedtime "rituals" which they perform every night just before bed. you know, glass of milk, warm bath, tucked into bed, etc. etc. I'm a huge fan of bedtime prayers. They are so sweet and genuine! That is one tradition that I can't wait to start.. and hopefully it will carry on.
So, don't get any ideas-I don't have kids. No, I'm not yet married...
but one can dream, eh?
=)

Best Friend Dinner!

Last Friday I finally got to catch up and enjoy the company of my best friend from High School, Haley! We go to different colleges now, so it's tough finding time to enjoy one another's company! We had a delicious dinner at Fatz Cafe, and then laughed for a couple hours watching Life as We Know it. Josh Duhamel wan't too bad either ;).
We had a fantastic evening and I can't wait to do it again!
I miss you Haley!
